I team up with, Kevin Zeigler, a talented illustrator and graphic novelist to design this fantasy inspired bridge between rave wear and street fashion…
I can’t really remember the first time I met Kevin Zeigler. It was around 2013 maybe. I think he studied at Savannah College of Art & Design in my hometown of Savannah, Georgia. I could ask him… don’t feel like it because it isn’t important. Point is, we had mutual friends so I saw him from time to time at social gatherings. When I saw him I would yell, “ZEEGLAHHH!” because it’s his last name, it was cool to say, and I was probably under the influence (another story). He would turn his head to look at me, smile, wave, and move on. Zeigler was not a close friend. We didn’t really hang out. He was a acquaintance. But that is not to say he hasn’t had an impact on my life.
He used to work with a close friend of mine that owns a print shop. In 2016 maybe 2017 I came in the shop one day to say “what’s up” to fam and Zeigler was there. I glanced at what he was working on. I don’t even remember what he was drawing. I do remember the feeling of being impressed followed by the destruction of my ego. The kid was good.
Even though I had no plans of starting a media brand at the time before that moment I considered myself a graphic designer. But I had no organized portfolio, no work that was up to date, and no clients. I spent a large portion of my life fucking around, being a dumbass and doing logos and websites here and there for friends, family, and my bands that went nowhere. No fundamentals. No focus. It was at that moment I realized that I couldn’t call myself a designer until I got my shit together. It was after that moment I started to build. I went back to the shop with my laptop a few times after that to surround myself with that energy.
So a few months ago I messaged him on Instagram about commissioning him for a collab. He shot me over an illustration and I took it from there. The goal was to bridge festival fashion and streetwear to add a bit of variety to both genres. Both Zeigler and I are satisfied with the end result and hope you are too.
